Things to Pack on your Journey to Happiness
By: Sanai
An Open Mind
When dealing with life’s daily struggles, it’s easy for people to get caught up their own worlds. You’re visions become what you think the visions of others should be. Don’t dismiss someone’s ideas just because it’s something you didn’t think to try, or you feel is too risky, or boring. Fortunately, this world is filled with people who have many wondrous ideas and thoughts, making it interesting, and exciting for themselves as well as others. Think about it, a lot of the inventions in place today are around because someone kept an open mind. Open up your mind to new ideas, or re-introduce the things you never got a chance to do. Go white water rafting, parasailing, learn to ride a motorcycle etc. The only thing stopping you is YOU!
A Sense of Humor
Spend a few hours a day laughing; read a funny article, or watch a comedy. Life is serious enough, learn how to lighten up. There’s a lot of negativity in this world; you don’t have to allow it to become a distraction in your life. Furthermore, prevent from getting angry all the time. You’re wasting valuable energy on something that you will probably end up laughing about somewhere down the line.
Some Humble Pie
Thinking highly of yourself is always allowed, but when you’re at a point where you become too proud, pretentious or egotistical, your circle of friends, and even sometimes family will diminish. Humbling yourself doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve become submissive, and it doesn’t devalue your opinion; however it will enable you to see how other’s think.
No baggage
Leave all the unnecessary baggage behind; all it’s doing is weighing you down. For me, it was learning to move forward and putting my past behind me. Many bad decisions as well as fear stopped me from making achievements in life. None of that is important at this time. You’ve made the decision to take this journey, now do everything possible to get there. Use past events as fuel to help you move forward.
Simple enough right? Well, it is! Remember you hold the key to your happiness. The only person who gets to choose how you live is YOU! Think logically and make conscious decisions that won’t make you miserable later on in life. Now start living the happy way! Make it a mission to be in control of your life.
